Usually I loathe grocery shopping and put it off all day on Sunday, then don't go, and then end up being miserable on Monday when I have to go after work. Around 10:40 this morning we headed to Best Buy because Chris needed some headphones and then we had a quick lunch at one of our favorite places, Buffalo Wild Wings. Then we all headed to go grocery shopping at Harris Teeter.
Armed with my meal plan for the week and a detailed shopping list...about an hour and $177 later...we were headed home with our groceries for the week. $177 if we do indeed follow our plan and eat at home all week should be way less than our normal $100 or so at the grocery plus $100 + of eating out a week. We will see how it goes. I have planned weekly dinners, 1 homemade dessert for the week, and 1 big breakfast on the weekend. Links are provided for the recipes I located online. Some of them I plan on tweaking.
Here is our plan for week # 1 -
Sunday - steaks, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob
Monday - lasagna, salad, and creamy onion garlic bread
Tuesday - chicken kabobs with pineapple & veggies, rice, and green beans
Wednesday - waffles and bacon and cheese mini souffles
Thursday - beef hard/soft tacos, tortilla chips, and taco dip
Friday - homemade pizza and bread sticks
Saturday - breakfast - baked french toast casserole /crock pot teriyaki chicken, white rice, and broccoli
Sunday - chili and cornbread muffins
