Miscellany Monday

I am linking up at lowercase letters for Miscellany Monday.

{1} I added the cutest new custom Instagram magnets to my etsy shop this week.  You can use coupon code, FREESHIP to get free shipping off of any order from now until the end of June.   If you have your own blog and would love a free magnet to blog about and a chance to offer a chance for one of your readers to receive 2 free magnets,  send me an email at instamagnet {at} gmail.com.

{2} I took a three day weekend (minus a thirty minute team meeting this morning) from work and it was much needed and fabulous.

{3} We had a busy, fun, and productive weekend. Saturday we went to Connecticut where we went outlet shopping, mall shopping, Home Goods shopping, and out to lunch. Sunday I did stuff around the house while Chris and Maddie went hiking and then we grilled out, went to Target, and then watched a movie. Today we CLEANED like crazy people and I know have a bag of clothes to donate to my cousin's daughter and two bags of assorted clothes I need to find some local organization to donate to. I also cleaned out our washer and did laundry; we went out to dinner, and went grocery shopping.

{4} Saturday night I ordered new bedding. I cannot wait for it to arrive. We went with a new duvet, duvet cover, fitted sheet (we don't use a top one) and pillow cases. I googled a promotion code and ended up getting 20% off. My goal this week is to work on a piece of art which will go over our bed once our new bedding arrives.

Feature Your Handmade Shop/Small Business for FREE

Do you have an Etsy shop or another at home business?

If so, I'd love to offer you free advertising space through Christmas as well as a feature in two upcoming holiday shopping posts on my blog.

I don't have hundreds of followers.

But, I do believe in supporting women who have started businesses for themselves.  I do believe supporting small businesses and start up businesses whenever possible instead of big chain stores.

So hopefully this will bring you some free exposure and a little bit of traffic to either your blogs, Etsy shops, or other home based business.

Feel free me to send me your avatars and a little blurb about your shop to my email.  Use "Free Sponsorship" in the subject line. and I will get them up with a day or two.  I am excited to see what everyone sells and to possibly do some of my holiday shopping through your businesses.  I hope you will check back for some of your holiday shopping as well.

I sell Scentsy... so that would be the only competing business I would not be taking on... I hope you understand.

Super Fabulous Home Goods Type Deals From Your Couch

A friend on Facebook recently posted about a site called Joss & Main that I just had to check out.  If you are familiar with Rue La La, it's like that but for items for your home.  Sort of like a discounted Home Goods...but online.  They have rotating sales from different companies.  You can pick up things like canvases, lighting, glasses, furniture, etc...

When I registered... it immediately told me there were no spots to join...and I was sort of bummed, but just two days later I got an email that a spot had opened up.  So if you sign up and get the same response, hang in there, because a spot will open.

A Super Sunday

Today was our last Sunday in Virginia Beach.

We met Kara and Connor from Happy Go Lucky at California Pizza Kitchen for a super tasty lunch.

Then we wandered around the fabric store.

Then I took Madison to the mall.  We stopped first at Barnes & Noble... $53.00 later she picked up two books, I picked up two books for my nephew, and this book I have been wanting to read since I read an excerpt in People magazine.

Then we headed to Old Navy to use up a Groupon.  Madison ended up with two pairs of denim capris and a shirt - and I only paid about $7.00.

Then we went to Macy's...where we found this in the juniors department... so INAPPROPRIATE!! Who would buy this for their teenager anyways?

Then on our way out...because it is soooo hot here we stopped and each got a shaken passion fruit tea lemonade at Starbucks.

In a little bit I am going to bake pineapple carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.  Madison's French teacher had a baby who we are going to visit tomorrow and we are going to bring them a half dozen.

Then I am going to read and work on a few things around the house.

All and all it has been a great final Sunday here.

My First Trip to Hobby Lobby... I am in LOVE!

I had never heard of Hobby Lobby until I started reading blogs...then it seemed like everyone was getting this fabulous stuff at a place called Hobby Lobby.  I had to go.  The bad thing one...there wasn't one anywhere close to my house.

{top left - bottom : I loved this framed cupcake print, tons of knobs...wish I knew how many I needed for the new house, fabric, and tons of signs}

So on Thursday on my way to my parent's house I stopped at one.  I don't think I will ever love another store the same...it certainly is giving my Target a run for its money!  If you have never been to one, google it, find one, and go.  I got some great buys including new fabric for our new living room!!! Woohoo!!

This is what I picked up -

{I got these pink and green bins for my new office...on SALE for $5.00}

{This cool memo board for my office}

{Green, pink and yellow fillers for my glass jar on my bookshelf jar, little nut cups to bake mini cupcakes in, and some round cookie cutters to attempt to make iced sugar cookies}

{Mini cake boards for a wedding I am doing and stamps for a fun project I saw on a blog...can't wait to get home and use them}

{new fabric for my living room.  I love the fun bright colors and it was only $8.99 a yard... I've been looking for months and just bit the bullet today.  I cannot wait to put it all together}

Do you ever go to Hobby Lobby? If so, what do you love most about it?

What I am Loving Wednesday

  • I only have to go to work 2 1/2 days this week - I am really loving this one.  A short week of work is always a good week.
  • I am taking Madison today to get her hair straightened.  She is very excited about this and I love that it is making her happy.
  • The new laptop padded cover I ordered this week from etsy.  It is from beeyourselfdesigns and its pink and green.  It will be arriving today or Friday.

  • Being about to take a trip this weekend to Home Goods...I love that store.
  • Being able to enjoy a meal at Pei Wei this weekend...one of our favorite places that we only get to enjoy when we go to my parents'.
